Hirst Conservation Materials was founded to develop and manufacture traditional high quality building materials, and is a partner company to Hirst Conservation.

We provide:

• Lime putty

• An extensive range of traditional coatings and paints, including zinc paint, soft distemper and Victorian milk paint

• Specialist red and white lead (lead carbonate) paints

All significant historic buildings and ancient monuments are protected by law, and any change of material proposed for their repair or restoration may only be applied if approval has been granted by a relevant authority such as English Heritage, Historic Scotland or CADW Wales. As a general principle, each authority encourages a policy of repairing like-with-like in addition to conserving the building’s historic fabric.
